Fun Way to Exercise Your Brain!

Since many circuits in our brain serve a dual function: muscle movement and higher cognitive function, any exercise that can do both is optimal for the strengthening your brain.

Here's a choreographed dance routine, with instruction, from Michael Jackson's choreographer for the "This Is It" concerts.

Computer Game Good for Your Brain!

For those times when you're resting between workouts!

I found this article about how my favorite computer strategy game was used to determine if there were beneficial cognitive results in older adults.  It was found to be so.  I've owned this game for over 2 years and it's still my favorite strategy game.

Here's the link to the article: http://news.illinois.edu/NEWS/08/1211gamers.html

I've also provided the link to the game, which I still enjoy.

I own the book and took the author's seminar through Harvard Medical School's Continuing Education Program.  The material is a bit dense, meaning you need to have a basic understanding of the brain to get through the material.  But the information presented is part of the scientific foundation for the Alzheimer's Prevention Fitness Program.

Hello World!

Yeah, I can see all the programmers grinning in remembrance of their first computer program assignment. Sorry, I couldn't resist since I started out in business life as a programmer before morphing into a fitness trainer.

The purpose of this blog is to bring to information on the latest developments on exercise and the prevention of the mental symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.

There will also be a series of video providing information on a field tested Alzheimer's Prevention Fitness Program including a complete Basic workout.

Finally, I hope to share information with others that are also working in this newly emerging field.
